After MUCH research and trial and error, here is my list of the plugins I can’t live without!

1. Display widgets I use this plugin on absolute every site I create. It allows you to show or hide any widget on certain pages using check boxes. It is easy to use and it always works.

2. Fast Secure Contact Form –
There are a lot of contact form plugins out there, but this is my favorite. It allows you to add forms to pages or sidebar widgets, and with a little thought, you can really make it look any way you’d like. My favorite feature of this plugin is the meeting scheduler add-on; which lets users set up video, phone, or face-to-face meetings!

3. Akismet
– Absolutely a must-have, this akismet really does block spam messages efficiently. You don’t have to delete 20 spam comments a day anymore, this does it for you!

4. All in One SEO Pack –
Easy to use and comprehensive, this plugin makes adding title and description attributes simple. Combined with other SEO techniques I saw page rankings consistently improve.

5. Google XML Sitemaps –
This plugin creates and submits your sitemap directly to google. You can manually recreate and resubmit your sitemap whenever you update content. It takes a few minutes and some page refreshes, but it does work.

6. Google Doc Embedder –
If you want to post your resume or any pdf document, this plugin is fantastic. You can insert a window onto the page with your resume where viewers can zoom in and take a look at it without leaving your site.

7.
Add Widgets to Page – Creates a widget area within a page, so you can drag widgets to and from the page without having to jump through hoops.

8. Usernoise –
A great FREE comments/feedback system that looks just like the ones used on many commercial websites.

9. WP Smush.it – Does a great job of condensing image files. It doesn’t make a huge difference in page speed and yslow grades, but every little bit helps. Until I master CSS Sprite image maps, this at least makes me feel a little better about all the images I use.

10. Sidebar Form
If you don’t need a complex contact form with special bells and whistles, and you just want to add a quick and easy “e-mail me” widget to your sidebar, this plugin is for you.
